If you’ve been following Minecraft pocket edition lately, then you’ve been noticing how it’s getting closer and closer to its desktop counterpart; with the introduction to crafting a few months back, and the frequent updates adding more and more craftable items, the game has been showing a lot of potential. One of the biggest issues with the original game for me was the default texture pack, and if you’re like me, you want to change the pocket edition one just as much as the desktop one. Thanks to the huge community following, it’s much easier than you think. Check out the video below to see how to install custom packs on your version of Minecraft PE.
How to install custom texture packs
Here’s the before and after screenshot of the same area; notice how much higher resolution the grass and overall terrain is? Reminds me of a Cell Shading style, similar to Legend Of Zelda Windwaker.
In order to grab the minecraft apk, you need to have minecraft installed on your device, then navigate to /mnt/asec/com.mojang.minecraftpe and pull the pkg.apk out of that folder to your computer for modification.
