Finding the best protection for your device can be a tough decision. One company has yet to fail over the years and continues to provide a reliable option for your phone. OtterBox, a company that has become a household name for phone protection, continues to impress with what they have to offer. One of their signature designs, the OtterBox Defender Series Case, for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE lives up to the Defender Series name and provides a solid guard against the elements.
As usual the OtterBox Defender has three part system of protection. First the phone is encased in a polycarbonate shell that consists of two pieces snapping around the device. The quality of the plastic doesn’t feel cheap and will provide a strong protection against average drops. Installed within the inner shell is a plastic screen protector that completely covers the front of the device. This is the perfect shield against scratches and dirt. As expected though, it will greatly diminish the quality of your devices screen. Apps that incorporate a lot of white space into them, such as the stock messaging app and other popular apps such as Twitter and Facebook, will appear extremely grainy. Those of you who love the HD quality should probably consider that it will effect it rather drastically. Though if you only plan on using it while outside, on the job, etc then consider getting this case as well as a cheap barely there case for home/office use.

Surrounding the hard plastic shell is a thick silicone skin that does an excellent job of providing added absorption for drops and shocks. Providing additional grip, this will keep the device securely in your hand. The OtterBox Defender is one of the few cases that has an exterior silicone skin instead of an interior one. The volume buttons and the power button are covered and the micro-USB slot is plugged. Left exposed are the camera, speakers and front-facing camera. Everything retains it’s functionality though, well, for the most part. I have used and tested dozens of the Defender Series variants and this one has to have the hardest to push power button in the history of Defender Series cases, you seriously have to mash the silicone cover into the case for it to respond. While this design has many positive factors to it, there are also several negative ones. While protecting your phone from dirt and dust, the case will be busy attracting most of it. This is also a case that you will need to use with it’s included holster, putting it into your pocket is no easy task and taking it out of your pocket will remove the contents of that pocket it with it.

Speaking of the holster, the Defender Series case is the only OtterBox case that includes a holster alongside it. The case loads horizontally, which as phones get larger and larger, makes more sense. Overall the holster feels pretty durable, with one exception. The belt clip feels pretty thin and cheap, this is surprising considering how high quality the rest of the case and holster are. As long as you are careful when removing the holster from your belt, you shouldn’t run into any problems.

The OtterBox Defender Series case for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, is the perfect combination for someone who works outdoors or for people who want the added protection. As far as price goes, The OtterBox Defender Series rings in at around forty dollars. This is a big chunk of change for a phone case, but the amount of security justifies the price. If you’re an HTC Incredible 4G LTE user and are looking for some of the best protection for your phone, this is the case for you. The OtterBox name has continued to prove itself time and time again and will continue to do so.
