Slices.me Beta is Now Live

Some of you might remember our review on the fantastic application Slices, a Twitter client, from One Louder apps. The wait is almost over, Slices.me just went into BETA and those of you who requested access to the BETA through their website should be getting an e-mail with log in information soon. It functions almost identical to the Android application, with your slices being displayed on the left along with mentions and messages. As the BETA tag entails not every feature is out yet for Slices.me, the Stats category and the People category still have a “Coming Soon” tag on them. All of the functions that Twitter.com has are there so you could easily drop it after Slices.me goes live. My only nitpick so far is the theme of the whole site. Sticking to the darker theme like in the Android application would have probably looked nicer. Who knows though, changing the theme could be on the way after the release of the BETA, only time will tell. So, check your e-mails and give the new Slices.me a spin.

Never used the app, but got access to the web beta. Am I massively missing the point? I make a new slice and it asks me to add people to it, this is no different to a Twitter List?

I can visit a list and see tweets from those people, just like i would with a slice?

What am i missing here? It just seems like yet another twitter client right now, not the best thing since sliced bread…

It’s similar to a list in the fact that you can customize them, add specific people, and view the list directly. Although, Slices adds a few more features giving a Pulse News like feel – meaning that it offers easy access to places to gather more followers based on specific types of news: like Pulse. So you could go to the “Tech” section and grab The Verge, Engadget, etc..

While it’s not the greatest client ever, I do really enjoy the UI and how everything is layed out. Including the Slices/list design. The Application is still very buggy and obviously being worked on.. Hopefully we’ll see some more stability in the future.
