Every Android user is aware of the necessity of a decent file manager for their phone. Often times file managers aren’t extremely aesthetically pleasing or rich with features, but most users tend to look past that picking whatever application provides the most features. There is one explorer that has reset the bar for these utilities. Solid Explorer 2, developed by KRZYSZTOF GŁODOWSKI, is a pleasant surprise and a head above the rest in the field of file management. Users new to managing files on an Android device will be pleased to know that the app features a detailed tutorial on its’ various features. Several pages of pictures and descriptions remove any uneasiness newer users to Android might have.

After glancing through tutorial you’re ready to dive right in. First impressions are definitely an important factor and Solid Explorer 2 does not disappoint. It’s easily the best looking file browser on the market currently, even though it doesn’t completely follow the Android UI Guidelines. Navigating through folders is a breeze with the ability to set filters or run a search based on a file name to quickly find whatever file or group of files you are looking for.
One of the most notable features this app provides is the ability to change how the files are displayed. You can view all of the files in various forms of a list or grid view. It doesn’t stop there though, tablet users will be able to appreciate the dual split panes which makes copying files from one folder to another a piece of cake. You can even view one pane in the grid view and the other in the list view. Simply putting the device in landscape mode will allow mobile phone users to view this as well.

The app provides various tools to show you a content summary of which folders and files are taking the most space on your device. Also included is the ability to view your files that are saved on various cloud storage services (Google Drive, DropBox, SkyDrive and Box). This makes it extremely simple to move files onto cloud services or vice versa.
As if those features weren’t enough the About section lists some planned features such as; media streaming from remote devices, image previews on remote places, ability to set cloud services as default panels, holo themes, and several more.

All-in-all Solid Explorer 2 is one of, if not the best file management app around. Many file browsers out there offer much less for a price and this app is completely free. Remember, this app is still considered to be in BETA so you might run in to some bugs. If you run into any problems the developer asks that you send him a report. This is the file management app to have and with new features on the way it will not be surpassed anytime soon.
