Impressive 1080p Video Taken with New LG Optimus 2X

The LG Optimus 2X was officially announced at this years CES last week, but we have yet to really see the amazing power that this device contains. With guts that would entice any smartphone guru like a Dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2, a 4-inch screen large enough for you to watch the videos you made in HD 1080p with your 8-megapixel camera, and of course Android 2.2 which will surely be upgradable to Android 2.3 in the very-near future. So take a peek at the video below showing off the LG Optimus 2X’s HD cam in action. Although we’d recommend you switch the setting of the video to 1080p and expand that sucker in to full-screen mode to get the full effect of its greatness.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play aka Playstation Phone Gets Gutted

Well would you look at what we have here!? It’s the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play getting gutted by a rather lucky bloke that got his hands on the mystery device. We still haven’t heard any official announcement from Sony Ericsson yet for the Xperia Play, and not even a slip-up from any of the reps at CES. When I hit up Digital Experience before the CES Show, I stopped by Sony’s booth and tried to pry some info out, and although they have to keep their mouths shut, they gave enough hints that it was definitely coming soon. However, after visiting Sony’s booth at CES, it wasn’t the same story. After checking out the Xperia Arc I was on my way to talk to one of the gents about the Xperia Play when I overheard another guy bring it up and not only did the rep act like it never existed and didn’t know anything about it, he got a little nasty with the guy after being questioned.

Fair enough Sony, we’ll wait it out. But take a gander at these new pictures that have surfaced and tell us if you’re not convinced.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Proves To Be a Worthy Competitor

The newly announced Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc was flaunting itself on the CES show floor this week, and after a brief amount of time running through the device, it’s certainly clear that the Arc is a far leap from the dinosaur of a device that is the Xperia X10.

First off, the specs on the Arc are fairly competitive with features such as Android 2.3, 8.1 megapixel camera with HD video recording capability, 4.2″ multi-touch reality display, 512MB of RAM, 1GHz Qualcomm, all running on Sony’s BRAVIA Engine. Saying this device is moderately responsive would be a complete understatement. Gingerbread is extremely snappy, and responsive to the touch. The Arc is available in Midnight Blue or Misty Silver, but personally I think the blue is much more modern and slick looking; Grey phones remind me of the old Treo 600 days.

Check out a short video of the Arc, along with Sony’s Press Release and additional photos below.

LG Revolution Gets 1GHz Qualcomm and Android 2.2

IMG_3523.JPG

We stopped over to visit LG at CES and got to check out the new LG Revolution Android smartphone. Running with Android 2.2 fairly smoothly on a 4.3″ (480 x 800) capacitive display, this sleek device sports a 1GHz Qualcomm Processor, a 5-megapixel camera, 16GB of internal memory, 1280×720 (720p HD) video capture capabilities, as well as an HDMI-out.

I was a little surprised about how touchy the LG reps were about not actually let me hold the device, even just for pictures, but hands are hands right? More shots below.

DroidNerds Headquarters at CES 2011

IMG_3510.JPG

Greetings to all our fellow DroidNerds out there!

We’re officially all set up here in Las Vegas enjoying covering everything Android at CES 2011. We’re in the process up uploading a bunch of new content from the show, however our current WiFi speeds are running ridiculously slow at the moment, so please bare with us.

This year’s CES show is definitely going to be one for the record book, and there’s just so many new goodies to google. (With your eyes folks, not your browser ;) ) Amanda Gray is doing a variety of interviews with some new and veteran accessory manufacturers that are branching out into the Android world, because you know… It’s not all about Apple these days, now is it?

So once again, we apologize for the slight delay of new content, but we’re working diligently to get everything up as fast as we can. Also, if there’s any particular manufacturer or company you would like to see, leave us a comment below and we’ll see about jumping over to their booth here at CES!

Hands On With The HTC EVO Shift 4G

Last night we attended The Digital Experience and stopped by HTC’s booth to get a closer look at the HTC EVO Shift 4G. This device was much more lightweight than I assumed, and actually feels really nice in the hands. Take a look at our short clip below to check it out.
