Make the Switch to Nook and get 30 Books for Free

Today, Barnes and Noble’s newsroom released an interesting incentive to think hard about upgrading from your current eReader to the Nook…

“Beginning July 1, bring any eReader into a Barnes & Noble bookstore to compare and upgrade to a NOOK device and receive an instant NOOK Book collection – 30 free digital titles valued at $315. The limited-time NOOK upgrade program is offered with purchase of any popular NOOK device including The All-New NOOK and NOOK Color Reader’s Tablet™.”

Even though you can’t pick the books yourself, and you’ll probably not care for a lot of them, it’s still a cool offer. Personally, i love the concept of free books regardless of whether their books i’d be interested in reading. B&N doesn’t list off all the titles, but wrote the following:

“The 30 digital books represent a variety of genres including Cooking, Kids, Classics, Humor, Lifestyle, Fiction, Sports, History, True Crime and Reference. Some of the free titles include: The Good Housekeeping Cookbook, Cristina Ferrare’s Big Bowl of Love, Creating Your Best Life, Glory in the Fall: The Greatest Moments in World Series History, 21st Century Crossword Puzzle Dictionary, My Boyfriend Wrote a Book About Me and timeless favorites including Secret Garden and Robinson “

Interested? The promotion starts tomorrow, and the Nook is available for $139.

Update Turns Nook Color into Affordable Tablet

The Barnes & Noble Nook Color has made a shift to the tablet side of things with their new update. Barnes & Noble has released its Froyo software update that comes with some big improvements; apps, web browsing, adobe flash, and email are now within the Nook Color’s reach.

With app capability comes a new app store of course. The Nook App Store features some greats, including Angry Birds and Pandora Radio.

The Nook Color is $249 without contract, making it one awesomely affordable reader’s tablet.

The Nook Color: More Than Meets The Eye?

Is the Nook Color just a simple touch-screen reader, or the cheap alternative to buying an expensive Android tablet? You take a look and see for yourself what it has to offer.

A large amount of development resources is being pushed into this tiny package, making as much of the hardware as possible. Although it’s not the fastest tablet out there, for a low price tag of $250, some spare time, and a bit of dedication, you have the ability to transform it into a [almost] fully functional Android 3.0 tablet! Making it run some of the sleekest Android software, what’s not to love? The build is currently a development build, but is certainly showing the possibility of making this a functional and affordable piece of equipment for everyone.

Here’s a video by Youtube user huskermania showing off his experience with the build.

White is the New Color for the Samsung Nexus S

As with most popular new devices, there’s always the desire to get the latest and greatest in a different color than the rest. The story isn’t any different for the Samsung Nexus S. This exclusive seems to come with a white battery door, while the front bezel remains the original black. Maybe a bit tacky if you ask me, but to each their own. There’s no word on if this will be only offered through a specific provider or retail store, but we can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be able to purchase the white battery door from Sammy without all the hassle of an exclusive purchase, right?
