Sharp Announces 3D Waterproof Android Phone

This one’s…interesting.

Sharp revealed the Aquos Phone The Hybrid 007SH (not a typo, i promise); it’s a 3D-waterproof-camera-handheld-swivel-Android-clamshell-Sharp mad science creation of a phone.

Here are some of those specs with a bit more detail: It’s got a 3.4-inch naked-eye 3D LCD touchscreen with 854×480 resolution, runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, has a totally waterproof design body, 16MP CCD camera with 1280×720 HD video recording, and it goes from…well, this:

to this…

and then to this.

And if all that weren’t enough, they’ve thrown in a Micro HDMI display, Micro SD slot, a digital TV tuner, Blu-ray connectivity, digital wallet function, a variety of color options, and GPS, among other things.

The Aquos Phone The Hybrid 007SH will be released in Japan starting next month, and there’s no word on if its coming to the U.S- or what even powers the thing- but at this point…I’m kind of afraid.

Feast your eyes on The One. Yes, that’s what Woow Digital is calling their newest Tegra 2 tablet, and it appears to be nothing short of impressive. The One will operate with Gingerbread and contains an NVIDIA Tegra 2 core, 16GB of flash storage, and 1GB of RAM. Of course the tablet will come with all the bells and whistles such as WiFi, WCDMA 3G and Bluetooth while Android 2.3 will display on a crisp 10-inch screen with a 1024 x 600 resolution. The image above shows the tablet running the game Dungeon Defenders, and surely we can agree that it’s definitely looking snazzy. As it is with most of the newest toys, The One will not be available to us in the States for it’s initial launch, however Japan will have first dibs on the Tegra 2 tablet before Christmas this year with an estimated price tag of $504. Check out some more shots of The One below.

Anyone can make an Android Device: Panasonic next on list

I know there are a lot of manufactures out there that want in on the Android movement. I get it. Just because you make products that have electronic parts to them, doesn’t really mean you should try to make a cell phone. Panasonic is stepping up to bat. For their sake I hope its out of the park, but from what we have seen before this could be a flop. They are looking to have a device available in Japan in 2011. Now the problem is that frequently we see these manufactures who have little to no experience with cell phones forget the basics. Look at Apple, picture messaging, Bluetooth issues, and now signal problems? Remember people that the whole initial point to a cell phone is to make calls and have reception wherever we go. How about LG? Make a fantastic TV, cell phone just not reliable (LG Vu case in point). Its not that I have no confidence in them its just that I personally like buying from companies who are cell phone in the roots. And yes, I know, they are not that many of them out there anymore. This may just be the Fail of the Week, I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Sharp putting out 3D Androids in Japan

Sometimes it does not benifit you to be in America. Case in point, the sweet new devices Sharp is putting out in the Japanese market. The Galapagos will be a 3D able phone on screen that you will not need to have those funny little glasses for. There is going to be two versions of it, one will be fully touch screen with a 9.2 megapixel camera and the second will have a slid out QWERTY keyboard and an 8 megapixel camera. Both will run off a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor with Android 2.2 pumping away.

Samsung unveils 7-inch Super AMOLED Panels

Samsung is preparing for their new addition to their next tablet by debuting a 7-inch Super AMOLED panel at the FPD International exhibition in Japan in two weeks. Sporting a 1200 x 600 resolution, this display is certainly wider than the Galaxy Tab’s 1024 x 600 display. If you recall, there were rumors prior to the Galaxy Tab’s release that the tablet would come stock with a Super AMOLED display. Unfortunately that plan never came to fruition. Let’s wait and see what Samsung conjures up with these new crisp panels to show off.
