Verizon 'Fesses up and Confirms new Data-Usage Plans

Okay, there’s been a lot of talk and some panic over Verizon switching the way they do their data plans. Well, now it’s been officially announced- Verizon no longer has an unlimited data plan, but usage-based pricing starting July 7th. Your three options are $30 for 2 GB, $50 for 5 GB or $80 for 10 GB.

You’ll get a nice 10 dollar fee for going over, also. So, if you were thinking about going for Verizon to maybe grab the HTC Thunderbolt, or Droid Charge, you’ve got like two days to still get the unlimited data plan. Customers who already have the unlimited data plan before the 7th will be grandfathered in and still have it available to them.

Make the Switch to Nook and get 30 Books for Free

Today, Barnes and Noble’s newsroom released an interesting incentive to think hard about upgrading from your current eReader to the Nook…

“Beginning July 1, bring any eReader into a Barnes & Noble bookstore to compare and upgrade to a NOOK device and receive an instant NOOK Book collection – 30 free digital titles valued at $315. The limited-time NOOK upgrade program is offered with purchase of any popular NOOK device including The All-New NOOK and NOOK Color Reader’s Tablet™.”

Even though you can’t pick the books yourself, and you’ll probably not care for a lot of them, it’s still a cool offer. Personally, i love the concept of free books regardless of whether their books i’d be interested in reading. B&N doesn’t list off all the titles, but wrote the following:

“The 30 digital books represent a variety of genres including Cooking, Kids, Classics, Humor, Lifestyle, Fiction, Sports, History, True Crime and Reference. Some of the free titles include: The Good Housekeeping Cookbook, Cristina Ferrare’s Big Bowl of Love, Creating Your Best Life, Glory in the Fall: The Greatest Moments in World Series History, 21st Century Crossword Puzzle Dictionary, My Boyfriend Wrote a Book About Me and timeless favorites including Secret Garden and Robinson “

Interested? The promotion starts tomorrow, and the Nook is available for $139.
