Amazon Releases Kindle Fire HD


After selling out of the top selling product, Amazon’s larger Kindle Fire has finally been unveiled. Introduced today in LA, the Kindle Fire HD features a 8.9-inch 1920×1200, 254ppi display. It also features a laminated touch sensor for stronger visuals and 25% reduced glare. It’s powered by an OMAP 4470 processor, which Amazon states outperforms the Tegra 3.

The Kindle Fire HD also includes stereo speakers an improvement from the previous versions mono driver. Amazon has improved their Wi-Fi networking by adding a dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz receiver. For storage, the Kindle Fire HD brings a16GB hard drive to the table.

The Kindle Fire HD joins Amazon’s new suite of Kindle devices, including the new 7-inch Kindle Fire and Kindle Paperwhite.

The New Kindle Fire

With the news of the old Amazon Kindle Fire selling out, with no new ones being made any time soon we were made to believe that a New Kindle Fire was to be released shortly. Well If you really did you may be right. Above is a leaked picture from The Verge and they say that this is what Amazon will reveal next week. Unfortunately there is not anything detail wise to accompany the picture, but you can see that the custom Amazon skin is present and that a front camera is located at the top. Rumor: 8GB Nook Tablet Coming out This Week for a Lower Cost

Rumors of Amazon Android Tablet Getting More Detailed

There’s no creative way to say this anymore- there are more rumors over the possibility of an Amazon tablet. It’s understood by most that ones easily on its way, but there haven’t been many leads as to when or what we’ll be dealing with. Well, PC Mag may be on to something, and claims to have a source with all the answers.

According to their source, we’ll be seeing two models powered by a Nvidia’s Tegra quad-core chip; one 10 inch and on 7 inch with an LCD display. Apparently, Amazon wanted to give their users the ability to switch between a colored LCD screen and a black and white E Ink-like display for easy reading, but this would take to long and Amazon is supposedly planning the release of their tab(s) in time for the holidays.

Amazon Announces New Honeycomb-Kindle App

Today, Amazon announced the release of their new Kindle app made specifically for Android’s Honeycomb and the tablets that run it.

The change in this app of course is that it’s been upgraded to work with the larger screens that come with a tablet and Honeycomb. Also, you can sync your books between your phone, the tablet, and your Kindle reader.

The app is free on the Android Market or the Amazon App Store, so you might as well head on over and download it!

HTC Rolls Out Update for EVO 4G Adding SWYPE, Kindle eReader and amp; More

HTC has announced that a new update has been released for the HTC EVO 4G bringing us a handful of new features that are sure to enhance the browsing and UI experience. New features include:

  • SWYPE Keyboard
  • Scan Now Widget for 4G
  • Kindle eReader
  • Blockbuster (including WM DRM 10)
  • NOVA game from Gameloft
  • Sprint Zone update
  • Latest Telenav

Having SWYPE on the EVO is reason enough to go grab the software update, so get to it!

Verizon Androids now come stock with Amazon Kindle App

Verizon Wireless and Amazon have announced that Android users can now experience the Kindle reading experience on Verizon Android devices currently released, and more to come. Although this news isn’t exactly groundbreaking, it does have its benefits. Verizon Android users will have access to over 700,000 e-books on the Kindle store, and will allow convenient features such as Amazon’s Whispersync technology, which syncs your bookmark in any particular novel across all of your devices, so missing where you left off will never become an issue. Also every book you buy from the Kindle Store will automatically be backed up online, where they can be re-downloaded at any time. Needless to say, anyone who is a bookworm and owns an Android on Verizon… you need this application. Verizon claims that they are getting outstanding feedback from users utilizing the Kindle Store, and by implementing the app on all of their future Android devices, it will provide a reading experience like no other for Android newcomers.
