LG Hints at New Optimus Model; Possibly 3D?

There’s talks of a new Android powered LG Optimus model which is said to take us “Into the New Dimension” which could really only mean one thing. It’s going to be a 3D handset. Confirmed? No. But really, what else could LG have up their sleeve here? CES’s biggest bang this year was definitely the evolution of new 3D technology, so if LG plans to incorporate a glasses-free smartphone that looks crisp, then we have no objections. It’s when you mention the requirement for the glasses is when we’ll get finicky about getting our hands on one. The new Optimus device is scheduled to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress during the 2nd week of February, so until then folks…

Will Android 2.3 Require a 1GHz Processor? LG Says Yes

On a recent Facebook post by DroidDog’s Alberto Vildosola, the question was asked on LG USA Mobile’s page when exactly the LG Optimus S would be received the much-anticipated Android 2.3 Gingerbread update. Much to our surprise the company’s Facebook admin states that since the Optimus uses a 600 MHz processor, the Android 2.3 update would simply not be compatible with that device. According to LG, Gingerbread requires at least a 1GHz processor in order to run. Now this may just be here-say even if it IS from LG’s Facebook page. Personally I just don’t understand how 2.3 would require a 1GHz processor to function properly. It almost seems unfair to majority of the other beefy hardware Android devices on the market. In the meantime, let’s cross our fingers and hope this tidbit of information isn’t true.
