HTC Thunderbolt Available from Amazon for $180

Surely everyone is excited about St. Patrick’s Day, and not just for the sheer amount of lager that we plan to consume! No, we’re speaking of the official launch of the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon. As you may or may not know, the Thunderbolt is going for $250 (2-year contract), $320 (1-year contract), or $444.99 (no contract) straight from Verizon. We’re used to seeing at least one shop that dares to offer a new device for less, and that’s just the case with Amazon this time.

Sign up for a new 2-year contract, or upgrade your current one and you can snatch the HTC Thunderbolt up for just $180 from Amazon. That’s a whole $70 off!

If that’s not a reason to have a drink, I don’t know of a better one.

Cheers!

Verizon Nixes Activation Fee for Motorola XOOM

There’s been quite a bit of an uproar regarding the lack-of an activation fee for the Apple iPad 2 on Verizon, when all of us Motorola XOOM users got hit with the sorry $35 activation fee. Well Verizon seems to have had a change of heart on the issue and is now waiving the activation fee’s for the Motorola XOOM now. Customers who purchase a Motorola XOOM will see a standard activation fee charge of $35 followed by a credit of the same amount on their first Verizon bill.

It’s a good thing, Verizon. No one likes an angry mob. Especially an angry mob wielding Android Tablets.

LG Revolution Appears at FCC; Launch Date Still Unknown

While we’re still patiently waiting for the LG Revolution to launch, word that the device has just passed the FCC has spread across the interwebz. This 4G, 1GHz single-core Android device on Verizon just might be the first Android with Netflix support. Although the LG Revolution has crossed the borders of the FCC, that doesn’t mean that the device will launch in the next few weeks. As a matter of fact, it could still be months from now until we hear official word that the Revolution is hitting stores.

Don’t you just love playing the guessing game?

Verizon Drops $100 Off Entire Stock of Android Smartphones!

I don’t know a single person who isn’t all about getting discounts, especially on Android smartphones. Right now Verizon is offering $100 off on their entire stock of Android smartphones. You heard right, $100! This is jam-up deal for anyone looking to upgrade their ancient Android device to something a bit more new, say… DROID PRO or DROID X? Most of the prices for Verizon’s Android smartphones were reduced to begin with, so majority of these devices will be free after this price cut. Of course after you sign up for that 2-year agreement.

Even though this is a killer deal, will you pass it up to hold off for the LTE enabled HTC Thunderbolt or the Motorola DROID BIONIC?

Latest rumor on the Thunderbolt is that we may see shipments arrive to Verizon stores around Monday of next week. Let’s cross our fingers and hope it’s true!

Verizon Drops Price of the DROID X to $149, Making Way for DROID X2?

It’s that time again, when the once-epic phones of the past near the end of their life while the latest and greatest start to emerge for the demand. The Motorola Droid X has been reduced a whopping $50 on Verizon’s website, making it available for $149 after a 2-year contract. Surely the upcoming release of the DROID X2 has something to do with the sudden price drop of this device. I can’t say the DROID X is really out of its league even to this day, but it wouldn’t dare hold a candle to the DROID X2!

DROID X2 Images and Specs Emerge; No 4G/LTE or Front Camera?

With the announcement of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play coming to Verizon, we can’t help but wonder if the launch of the upcoming Motorola DROID X2 will either stomp on sales for the Xperia Play or if it will actually be a worthy contender. Politics aside, the folks over at The Mobi Zone have obtained some new images of the DROID X2, along with some sweet specs to drool over.

  • 1 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual-Core 1GHz Processor
  • GHD LCD Display
  • 540 x 960 Resolution
  • Only 3G (Not LTE/4G)
  • 8-Megapixel Rear Camera (No Front Camera)
  • Android 2.2 (Upgradable to 2.3)
  • MotoBlur
  • Encrypted Boot Loader
  • No Camera Button
  • FM Radio

The DROID X2 looks almost identical to the original DROID X minus the camera button. Also the fact that the DX2 will lack in 4G/LTE capabilities is a pretty huge letdown, even with it’s dual core processor and 1GB of RAM. The DROID X2 is set to launch around the second quarter of this year. Who’s excited?
